Burns & Bowne Adjusting Company was founded in 1950 by Muskegon Native Frank Burns. Mr. Burns met insurance salesman Richard (Dick) Bowne in 1959. Due to an increased market, they formed Burns & Bowne Adjusting Company. Mr. Bowne dedicated himself to obtaining his A.I.C.
and then his C.P.C.U. He also attended many seminars and continued studies within the industry. Well ahead of industry demand, Burns & Bowne Adjusting Company opened satellite offices to better meet the needs of their clients. The first
satellite office was opened in Ludington in 1965. Grand Rapids was opened in 1978; Flint in 1983; and shortly there-after followed by Kalamazoo in 1985. In 1992 the Ludingtion office was moved to Traverse City where it remains today. In 1980 Mr. Bowne’s son Steve joined the Company as an adjuster. Working with his father, Steve developed the same beliefs of continuing education within the industry, beliefs that are still carried out today, not only with management but within the whole company. In 1994 Mr. Bowne semi-retired and Steve emerged as President of Burns & Bowne Adjusting Company. Steve’s strong beliefs in ethics and hard work are the foundation of Burns & Bowne today. Those beliefs are put into practice by Steve and his staff, and are clearly reflected in the service provided by Burns & Bowne. As we grow and continue to do business in the future we hope that we can put to use our skills and knowledge to help benefit you, and your insured's claims needs.
